Course: Bread
Ingredients 2 cups water
1 cup oatmeal
2 packages yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
5 1/2 cup flour
1 T salt
2 T butter
Directions Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add the oatmeal. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
Mix the yeast with 1/4 cup lukewarm water, 1/2 cup flour and sugar. Mix well then let stand until the mixture begins to bubble (about 5-10 min.). Add the rest of the flour, salt and 1 Tablespoon butter. Mix well. Let dough rise until doubled in size. Punch down and divide into two loaves. Set in greased and floured loaf pan and let rise again until doubled in size. Bake 50-60 minutes at 375. Pat rest of butter on top of each loaf to make golden brown.
