Course: Dessert Ingredients
3 c flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
1 t salt
10 T butter
1 T grated orange peel
1 1/2 c plus 1 T sugar
3 eggs
1 c whole almonds, lightly toasted Directions
preheat oven to 350.

beat butter and orange peel in large bowl until well blended. gradually beat in 1 1/2 cups sugar. Beat in 2 eggs, 1 at a time. Add dry ingredients; stir until well blended. Using floured hands, knead in nuts.

Divide dough in half. Roll each half between hands on floured work surface into 15-inch logs by 2 1/2 inches. Transfer to greased/floured baking sheet. Brush top of logs with some egg and sprinkle remaining sugar on top. Bake until golden and firm to touch, about 30 minutes.

Cool on baking sheet about 10 minutes. Reduce oven to 325.

Transfer logs to cutting board. using sereated knife, cut warm logs crosswise into 1/2 inch slices. return to baking sheeet and bake at 325 for about 5 min. longer. cool. eat. mmmmm.
